Hi, I'm Mrs. Leban, and I teach Creative Technology classes at Sandburg Middle School. Previously, I was an art teacher - for 13 years! So art + technology = my jam. I'm also the department chair for the Creative Technology department.

I student taught right here at Sandburg Middle School in 2001. I earned my BA from Elmhurst College in December of 2001. I earned my MA in 2005 from St. Xavier University. In 2010, I earned National Board Teacher Certification in Early Adolescent-Young Adult Art.

In 2014, I earned my Technology Specialist Endorsement and my Computer Applications endorsement from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I am an education ambassador for WeVideo, Wakelet, and Flipgrid. Using green screen/color keying in creative ways is one of my favorite things to do!

I am a Google Certified Trainer and Educator, Levels 1 and 2, and I hold Apple Teacher status. In summer 2018, I was accepted into the Google Certified Innovator #LAX18 cohort! My Innovator project is called ResetEDU, which is a YouTube channel where I help teachers get excited about and find fun in teaching!

I am a 2020 IL State Teacher of the Year Finalist! It's one of the most exciting things that has happened to me in my career... so far!

I'm married to Mr. Leban, who is an art teacher in Oak Park at Gwendolyn Brooks Middle School. We have a son named Iggy, and two dogs, named Motorhead and Dio.

I am a retired roller derby player, and I like to roller skate all the time. I even know how to ramp skate and roller dance! I also enjoy going to concerts, cooking new recipes, DIY projects, making art of all kinds, and spending time with my son and husband.

You can also find me on Twitter and Instagram.
